Q.  Dear Oracle, it saddened me to watch Coldplay not play Yellow at the concert the other night. Why did they choose to exclude it? And was this the first time ever?
Thanks from Canada eh!

The band didn't play Yellow at the Paralympics Closing Ceremony either but as far as I know it's been played at all official Coldplay concerts and all summer festivals.
When they do a one-off performance or a show that's part of something else they sometimes have the chance to pick an exclusive, bespoke setlist and I think that was the case at the iTunes gig.

Q.  Hello dear Oracle
I'm curious, what was the song that most have played over the years?

Yellow is definitely the band's most performed live song.

Q.  Hi Oracle!

I was searching Youtube videos (Yes I have nothing better to do!) and found a video of Chris apologising to Will (with the help of crowd) in San Diego when playing Yellow in 2009, I'm sure you've answered this before but what was that about? The video quality isn't good enough for me to work it out!

Cheers :)
Matt

This was all in jest but at the start of the song Chris made a mistake (from what I can gather, there was no acoustic guitar intro). Just before the end of the song, Chris explains to the crowd that at the beginning he made "a tremendous error" and Will gave "the nastiest look" a drummer can give to a singer.
He asks the crowd to help him say sorry at the end of the song, which they did.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
My fiance & I are getting married next August and we want to have Yellow for our first dance as a married couple.
Are there any releases that feature an acoustic version we can buy?

There are acoustic versions of the song around. The most notable being from Jo Whiley's Lunchtime Social session back in 2000. Whether you will be able to buy it remains to be seen but the track featured on Coldplay Acoustic, a promo E.P.

Q.  Hey Oracle, I was wondering what the name of the egg-shaped guitar Chris uses in this performance of Yellow was?
I believe it's also one of the guitars that the band the Rolling Stones used.

It's been a while since I answered this question. I first replied to it in 2009 and again here in 2010.
And yes, here is Rolling Stone's Brian Jones playing one.

Q.  Hey Oracle!
I hope you are having a great day, I was just curious was the Yellow video shot in one take?
Best Regards,
Ethan

No, but it didn't take long. Although it was a 12-hour day, the actual footage was shot in under an hour. They only ran through the song 5 times.

Q.  Me and my best friend, we both like Coldplay a lot, but he says that he hates Yellow because it reminds him to his ex-grilfriend hahaha! What should I say to him?

Don't say anything - do something. Make a nice new memory to that song so that he thinks of you instead.

Q.  Good morning. I found on ebay a Coldplay Yellow Fever CD ? I'd never seen it before, what is it?

I've never seen (or heard of) it before either. That narrows it down to a bootleg / unofficial CD.
It could be a remix of Yellow but I shouldn't think it's worth spending your money on. Probably just someone trying to cash in so I don't advise you to buy such things.

Q.  Hello Oracle,

I've been a Coldplayer since I was 8 but there's a little problem, I've never known what was the name of this intro (if it has) that the band used during their AROBTTH tours for Yellow is? (0:00 - 0:55)

It hasn't got a name and it is exactly what you said; an intro. It was an extended intro for the AROBTTH tour but still part of the song rather than a separately named entity. There isn't an official studio recorded version (single, album etc.) but obviously it is available on Live 2003.

Q.  Dearest Oracle,
I have been trying to find a specific version of Yellow that I heard. It was acoustic and slower than the original and Chris sings with a lower voice. The live 2012 is the closest I have gotten but it isn't the whole song. Is there a version of the whole song like that? It's my absolute favorite.
Thanks,
Christina

There are acoustic versions of the song available on CD, but they won't be identical to the version you seek. Live 2012 has a slower intro and then built into the climax.
There's an acoustic version on the God Put A Smile Upon Your Face EP but the most well-known one out there was from Jo Whiley's Lunchtime Social (Radio 1) that was available on a promo CD called Acoustic.
