Q.  All knowing Oracle,

What was the location of the Midnight music video? Was it anywhere close to Primrose Hill, or am I completely off?

Completely off, Publius. The Midnight video - directed by Mary Wigmore who also directed The Hardest Part - was shot in Los Angeles.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
Since I saw the Paradise video I've had this question in my head and right until this moment I took the time to put it together and send it to you.
What is this picture?
I thought that was at the recording of the Paradise video, as it says in the caption, but it never came up. I hope you can answer this question as I'm sure I'm not the only Coldplay fan that noticed this.

This Paradise video never made the light of day - I've never seen it - and was replaced with the wonderful Mat Whitecross video.

Q.  Hi there!
I was wondering, did Chris know how to ride a monocycle before the Paradise video, or did he have to learn?
Thanks very much, lots of love from Spain!

Yes, he did. Mat Whitecross mentions the fact in this interview along with more interesting facts about the Paradise video.

Q.  @coldplayzoneit

In this video there are some images recorded NOT live. When, where and how that part was shot?

This clip of Charlie Brown is taken from the Coldplay Live 2012.
The majority of the live footage was from their Glastonbury Pyramid Stage headlining appearance, June 2011.
The film director, Paul Dugdale, created a montage rather than shoot a straight performance.

Q.  Hey Oracle!
I hope you are having a great day, I was just curious was the Yellow video shot in one take?
Best Regards,

No, but it didn't take long. Although it was a 12-hour day, the actual footage was shot in under an hour. They only ran through the song 5 times.

Q.  Why is there a old woman in the The Hardest Part's video? Can anybody explain me? I'm a little curious.

Technically they weren't actually there as it was footage from the 1980s. The story behind the video has been answered here before.

Q.  Hi Oracle, have you made a chorus/ participated in any Coldplay video? Thanks

Yes but nothing quite as exciting as a Phil Harvey cameo role. Regular readers will know that I was in the crowd at the Bolton show when the Fix You video was shot.
I was also in the Christmas Lights video. You can't necessarily hear or see me in either but I assure I was there.

You can find out more about the creative team behind the video here.

Q.  Hello dear Oracle,
Can you please tell me whose is this hand (at 1:40), and what is the meaning of the Bigger Stronger video?

Thank you very much dear Oracle, my best wishes and respectful feelings,
Your fan who loves you all, Hasna.

Originally the video was going to be for Spies but they changed their mind so it actually has no relation to anything lyrically or otherwise to Bigger Stronger.
I can't really explain the meaning because of that reason.
Also, as it was filmed just before my time with the band, I have no clue who the hand belongs to. Mat Whitecross directed this video so I asked him: "it was a guy called Balint, who did the props on the day".
A nice nugget of new information!

Q.  Dear Oracle,
At the end of the Paradise video when the Chris elephant meets the rest of the 'elephant band' in the savannah, is it actually the band members in the costumes or just actors?

Thanks! :)

Yes, it really was the whole band involved in being the elephant band. That was a long, hot day!
