Q.  Oracle my question is what was Coldplay actually playing during the filming of A Sky Full Of Stars video? Was the song playing out loud for fans to sing along? Please help me Oracle your my only hope...

It would be extremely odd to play any song other than the one they are making a video for.
At the end of the video shoot, the band played the song (A Sky Full Of Stars if we're still not clear) live on the small raised podium. They played acoustically over a backing track and the crowd joined in for the final refrain.

Q.  So Oracle, I was wondering if at the end of the new A Sky Full of Stars video what the confetti was shaped as: stars or butterflies? I tried looking but couldn't quite tell and I know that they love butterfly confetti (I was at their Portland, OR concert in 2012 and remember a lot of butterfly confetti), but then the song is about stars, so I wasn't sure. Thank you for answering all of our questions and hope you keep doing it for a long time. :)

It was star-shaped confetti used for the ASFOS video shoot and (hopefully without spoiling it for anyone going to the RAH gigs next week) during the current live shows.

Q.  Just a simple question: Where was A Sky Full of Stars shot? Oh btw, Coldplay is awesome. Okay, thanks.

The ASFOS was filmed on King Street in Newtown, Sydney.

Q.  Ok, so I found out from a thread on Coldplaying about a video for Parachutes. Like the song. This seems quite peculiar, because 1, the songs is only like 45 seconds long, and 2, Parachutes isn't a single. Even better, on iTunes, it is one of the least purchased songs!
Could you explain why, or even if they made this video?

It would have been handy to see the link to the thread in case it refers to something I can explain.
All I can tell you is there is no official Parachutes video.

Q.  Hi:) Did Chris learned the magic tricks he did in Magic video? I mean, he really did that? Thanks, love you.

Chris was actually taught the magic tricks on set by magician, Joe Labero.

Q.  Dearest Oracle,

I love the official video to MAGIC? Chris is so sweet and handsome as Christopher the assistant ;-). But could you please tell me , who are the actor and actress who are playing Claude and Cecile ? And where is the venue for the video shot ?

Thank you so much

yours
MaGic -)

Ziyi Zhang is playing the part of Cecile but Chris is playing both the parts of Christophe and Claude.

It was directed by Jonas Akerlund and the "venue" doesn't actually exist; it was purpose built for the video shoot.
For those asking, Guy, Jonny & Will aren't playing any parts as they weren't in the video.

Q.  Dear All-Knowing Oracle,

I was wondering if the picture taken of Chris and the band at a pool was actually taken at the Irvine High School pool. I have heard that it was, and just wanted to confirm because I live nearby and it's exciting to know that your idols were this close to you.

Thanks,
Aashray.

It was next door at Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, California.
*It was just Chris - the band aren't featured.

Q.  I've just checked out the Tumblr page of Coldplay and I saw this picture of Chris (I think it's Chris) looking up towards a camera in a swimming pool. Am I right to conclude that this is a picture of the video shoot for the single Magic?
If so, can you give some more information about the video shoot?

You're not right, Feike. I can't comment too much on the cryptic photo at this stage but I can definitely tell you that it is not the video for Magic. For that is - as they say in the filming world - already in the can.

Q.  Hello Oracle!! So I was wondering if the crowd during the video of Clocks was edited in, they seem to be displaying no emotions and very little movement, plus I'm sure if someone threw water at me I'd start moving haha. Thank you (are).

No, the crowd was actually in attendance. They were students from the local college and I seem to recall recruiting them was quite last minute. The video's director - Dominic Leung - will have told the audience what to do so maybe a few people found it hard to keep still, I can certainly spot a couple!
