Q.  Hey Oracle,

Why does Chris Martin after, I don't know, 10 years of playing his Yamaha GT20 pianos, suddenly switch to a different one?

Greetings from Holland
Nathan.

Given Miller is Chris' keyboard technician (and all round genius with a bunch of technology), I asked him about the current key situation.
"This new one can 'play itself' in A Sky Full Of Stars and Magic. What it plays is actually a midi recording of Chris playing the song in rehearsals". He's actually had it since the Christmas Lights video where we did the same trick".
It plays in time with the song and the screens because of Miller's clever synching.

Q.  Hello Oracle, I hope you are well. I was just looking through the live blog from Cologne. At 19:01, you have a picture of the three people. In Roadie #42's blog, he said that someone came to say hi to Dan and him. My question is, is Anchorman in the first picture? And if so, which person is he?
Thank you!

I'm confused. Roadie #42's blog wasn't even the same night so no, that's not Anchorman - who wasn't there & would never be careless enough to be photographed. As Roadie said, it was a chap, a young fella - he isn't part of the CP team.
As for the following night's live blog, at 19.01 the photo you mention comes with a caption explaining who it is:
"A view from the management office, which is where we've made our home for the day. Here's Arlene (management), Miti (live broadcast mixer) and Dan Green (sound-man and producer extraordinaire)."

Anchorman writes the live blogs and takes the photographs so he's not likely to be in any of those either.

Q.  R42 refers to his keyboard station. Is he responsible for setting off the bands click tracks, etc? And does he actually play some of the stuff we hear?

Roadie #42, a.k.a Miller, began roadie life first and foremost as Chris' keyboard tech. His job titles have included Midi Technician, Videographer, Pro Tools as well as #42. He does sometimes set off click tracks - as does Will - but he doesn't play anything live though Matt McGinn has been heard playing guitar off-stage. Miller always has so many things to do whether at the studio, at the show or for the website.

Q.  Hi dear Oracle,
I was wondering what Miller's role was exactly towards the band. We know that he is partly in charge of the multimedia things as doing photography and video footages, then writing his Roadie#42 blogs. But I guess those things don't take him all of his time, so what is he doing aside from this, in the studio, etc? I am quite curious about that.
All the best for the new year and cheers to all the roadies!
Chloe.

I hope he doesn't mind me saying so but Miller is quite possibly the busiest of anyone behind the scenes. It takes a lot longer than you think; he's constantly working. The video footage - whittling down, editing and creating is very time consuming. Whenever you see Miller be it in a car, in departure lounges, planes, backstage, onstage (you get the idea), he is working.
At the live shows he started as Chris' piano/keyboard technician and is now is in charge of all Pro Tools.
He's always the last to arrive at an aftershow party - if at all - due to his unshakeable conscientiousness. Oh and that amazing Christmas Lights video we had on the home page over Christmas, yup, that was Miller. Respect.
Oh and I swear he didn't pay me to say any of this!

Q.  Dear Oracle
I clicked the link to see the photo's R42 took for his blogs and where it says
"Signed by Roadie #42 Matthew Miller"

My question is, is Matthew Miller Roadie 42?????????????????????????????????? If you've already answered this, sorry for being behind everyone else.

Ta-dah! Yes. You're not behind; you're the first to ask after yesterday's first public revelation of that fact here on this website.
He's affectionately known as Miller round these parts and finally you get to see the man behind all those amazing photos and insightful blogs that keep us going when starved of all things Coldplay. High five Miller!
