Q.  Dear Oracle, has Chris ever forgot lyrics to songs while performing live?

Oh yes, that's happened so many times! Chris generally stops the song and starts again. There are certain songs that Chris has repeatedly forgotten parts of which given he wrote them, is quite a funny - and perhaps surprising - thing to happen.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
After lyrics are posted on, are they ever amended if Chris sings something different on the actual recording than the written lyrics?

Chris only usually changes the lyrics when performing live after the song is released into the big wide world. We keep the website's lyrics as originally recorded. They are only amended if there has been a mistake.

Q.  Hi Ori!
Can you give me Violet Hill's lyrics? :)
I searched for it but I found different lyrics for the song and I'm confused.

The lyrics to all our releases can be found on this very website, in the Recordings section.

Q.  Hi Oracle!
I just read the post announcing about the Ghost Stories hidden lyrics and I've found it absolutely brilliant!! Could we know who has the brains to whom this wonderful idea occurred?
Thanks a lot & have a good day!

The brains behind it and therefore the owner of the brilliant brain is...

Q.  Hello!
I'm not sure if you can answer this, or if there even is an answer, but it's worth a shot! How often will a new clue be posted for the lyrics hunt? Is it random or is there a set interval? Or is it just after one gets found, another clue is posted? Much thanks!

It's been amazing to see the fantastic reaction to the #lyricshunt. At 16.45 (GMT) we are 6 down, 3 to go.
All I can tell you is that all lyrics are already hidden.
The clue times have not been what I'd call specific. They can't be totally random either as the times are dependent on the location of the libraries. There'd be no point posting clues if the library is closed because of time zone differences.

Q.  Howdy even if the gold ticket is now found is the lyric hunt still going on.

Yes. There are 9 hidden lyrics in total so the hunt is still on.
The competition is a one-off chance to win something precious and unique that nobody else in the world has. I think that is worth looking for.

Q.  Dear Oracle, I have a question about the hidden lyrics. Are the lyrics hidden in libraries of big cities such as Madrid or London or are they on libraries of small towns?

I obviously cannot tell you where they are hidden but Anchorman did already answer this question in a tweet yesterday.

Q.  Dear Oracle,

About the golden ticket to watch Coldplay in London, by any chance is Malaysia a part of the hidden #lyricshunt?

It wouldn't be much of a hunt if we told you where the lyrics were hidden before we give out clues, would it?
I'm afraid you will just have to wait for the clues to be tweeted. Then work out what the book is, where it is hidden. Then if you can, go and look for it!

Q.  Does Coldplay have certain lessons or morals or a background to all of their songs?

No songs are preaching in any way so rather than lessons, I'd rather go with messages. Many of the songs reflect real life & feelings that people can relate to but of course there are powerful lyrics in some tracks that are very definitely saying something worth listening to - How You See The World No. 2 springs to mind immediately.

Q.  I'm a grandmother (meaning old lady) who absolutely loves Coldplay. I have all their albums downloaded to my Zune (yes, I bought a Zune and I love it) and have a Coldplay playlist which is always on and playing, although there are 78 gigs worth of music on my 120 gig player. I even sleep with Coldplay on. Is there somewhere I can find who wrote the lyrics and the music to the songs? I especially love Things That I Don't Understand. Thanks!

All the albums have credits on the sleeve; Coldplay (mainly Chris) write all their own lyrics and music but there are a few songs that credit other writers such as Jon Hopkins. There has also been occasion where the band have used a riff, hook or similar and credit has also gone to the source.
This isn't meant to be a comprehensive list but some examples of artists among those credited are Kraftwerk (Talk), Ritmo De La Noche (Every Teardrop), Sigur Ros (Princess of China).
By the way, just because you're a grandmother does not make you an old lady! You sound young at heart to me.
