Q.  Hi Oracle! Can you tell me where I can watch the concert on 19 December? Please, I really want to watch it! Thanks :)

It's not being filmed for broadcast I'm afraid. We've never filmed the end of year charity shows but who knows, we may document it in some way and hopefully people will upload photos to our Live Archive.

Q.  Hi Oracle!
I was curious to see what the smallest-scale concert that Coldplay has ever done and how small would they go?

Obviously when the band started they were playing pubs & clubs with very small capacities. The last time they played anywhere as small was December 2011 when they went back to perform at Dingwalls (Camden, London) which has a capacity of less than 500.
It's not a case of how small would they go, but can they go and for what reason.
Dingwalls was a special radio event and obviously their production had to be reduced heavily for such a tiny venue.
I have to say, watching Chris on that stage being restricted, unable to do his usual running around, was like watching a caged tiger!

Q.  Hello Oracle,

I'd like to firstly say I saw the guys live on their MX tour and absolutely loved it and I love watching videos of them play at different gigs on the tour. But I stumbled across a Live In Madrid EP containing Violet Hill, GPASUYF, Paradise, Charlie Brown & Clocks. Is this official or not?

This was a U.S only item as part of Google's download store launch. It looks like it's now available in the U.K.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
I saw a tracklist for Live 2012 from the official announcement on this very website, and I have to say, it's rather disappointing. Not that the songs are bad, but where's The Scientist, Politik, Shiver, and Lost!? Why can't Violet Hill be available on the DVD. I did pre-order a copy, but I just was curious.
Thanks, Jeremy

The DVD is made up of the majority of the show but not every song performed was included. Violet Hill is on the DVD though - but just not on the CD.
Lost! or Shiver weren't on the MX Tour set list. Neither was Politik at all actually. Some songs were only played a handful of times and that's why they were omitted.
The Scientist was in the set & as far as I know is included as a bonus track as is Don't Let It Break Your Heart.

Q.  Hi Oracle
I've seen some of the previews of the MX film, and I'm disappointed with the crowd in Paris.
I always think Chris is frustrated with the crowds when he says 'make some noise' or 'is anyone out there?'.
At the two gigs I went to, M.E.N. last December and Ricoh in May, he most definitely knew we were there, and couldn't possibly make any more noise, even if we tried. So why were some of the British gigs not included.

I have to disagree Mark. I was at the Paris show and I assure you he's not saying either of those things because the crowd was quiet - they were anything but!
He actually said "is there anybody out there?" at every stadium gig after the first song (Hurts Like Heaven) before going into In My Place. It gets everyone going - not that anyone needs much encouragement.
I understand that everyone will have an opinion on where the DVD was filmed but as I say, I was at the Paris show and think it was a great choice (the majority of it was filmed there by the way, not its entirety).
I was also at the same M.E.N gig you mentioned and it was amazing. As that was December 2011, I think that would have been too soon into the tour for the crux of the DVD.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
Can you help me? I don't know whether I should see Coldplay Live at the movies. I really want to go but the one day it is screening is before I see Coldplay when they come. I want the concert to be a "surprise" in a way but I really want to see it at the movies! EEEKK help me!

I can see your dilemma.
The Live 2012 DVD is being previewed - as you know - for one night only in cinemas on 13th November.
The exact same film will be released on DVD on the 19th.
The band come to Australia 13th - 21st.

The only thing is, both are pretty much a once in a lifetime event.
If you go to a screening and the gig and watch the DVD, you're 3 out of 3 but you can always watch the DVD after the live show. It won't be the same as the gigantic cinema screen but I'd aim for 2 out of 3.
Yes, tempting as it is to see it on the big screen, I personally think I would wait to see it live.
That was a tough decision even for me and I've seen both!

Q.  Coldplay please I have really nice pictures of you guys in the toyota center in Houston I would love if you can see them please with all my heart

The best option for your photos to be seen is to upload them to the Live Transmissions section of the website.
If your pics are on tumblr, you never know, they may end up on ours.

Q.  Dear Oracle, there was a CD sale at my university, and among the hundreds of used CDs I found a Coldplay album entitled Live In 2001. The man selling it said it was unreleased, and I bought it out a curiosity. Is it in any way official, or a bootleg of some sort?

Much like the DVD answer I gave t'other day, the CD you have is an unofficial bootleg. The DVD in 2003 did have a special edition with a bonus live CD. That later became available as a separate entity - that's the only official live release.
We also gave away LRLRL which was also a live recording.

Q.  Oracle, please can you confirm if Coldplay is really coming to South Africa. Quite a few people are talking about Coldplay coming to SA but on the website there is no information. We would be super excited if this is really true. We love Coldplay. The Rainbow nation is ready for them, maybe they can meet Mandela who knows!!

How excited are the fans in S.A today? Anchorman announced dates this morning. It's the first time the band have ever played there so it's pretty exciting for us too!

Q.  At Live 8 in 2005, did Coldplay stick around after their performance to see Pink Floyd reunite? Are they fans of The Floyd?

Continuing with a Live 8 question... Yes they are fans of Pink Floyd but Coldplay had a show that night at Glasgow's Hampden Park as they were still on tour at the time so had to leave soon after their own performance therefore missing the historical moment.
