Q.  Hi Oracle, Hope you're weather in London is better than mine in Chicago. I'm wondering, if you were to buy tickets to a Coldplay show, where would you try to sit? I like the idea of being on the runway or stage, but people there seems to spend the show looking up. I'd love to be close and get a great view at once, if that's possible.

It's all down to personal choice. Arenas are floor seated, stadiums are standing so you may wish to sit at the sides.
I remember once buying tickets (on the phone) for the Rolling Stones and they offered me seats at the back of the stadium. I asked if there was anything closer to the front and ended up 4 rows from the stage. Sometimes people assume you want the overall best view of the whole show - lights, effects etc.
I don't like standing for hours on end so as long as I'm not right at the back, I'm happy anywhere. In fact, scrap that. To be there at all is better than not!

Coldplay have had a runway and the 2nd & 3rd stages in more recent years so you have different vantage points depending where you are.
Big shows have screens so you can see close-ups and what's going on though.

To your question: For you, I'd suggest by the second stage so you get a bit of both. Me? I usually get to sit at the sides with a great view but once had 2nd row seats when I was with my family. That was ace but a bit weird.

Q.  Hi Oracle!
I have a quick question: How can I know when Coldplay is going to give a concert without having to enter the website. It would be great if there was an option that e-mails you their next concert.
Is that possible?

You can sign-up to receive our newsletter by filling in the join the mailing list field (top right of the website).
This does not guarantee you will hear about tickets in advance (or indeed be successful getting them) as tours are also announced on the website but it's worth signing up.
If you're a facebook user, it may be helpful to follow the band as sometimes we announce there first, depending on where the show is taking place but generally to be safe, I'd go with the newsletter.

Q.  Dear Oracle
A simple question, overall, how many concerts have been performed by Coldplay??

Apparently there have been 990 Coldplay shows.

Q.  Did you ever have to interrupt a show because of an annoying fan?

If not, what was the weirdest fan demand you guys ever received?

Yes! Well, that sounds awful so I shall rephrase it. Chris & Jonny were performing at the Little Noises charity event. As Chris started playing The Scientist, a fan up on the balcony began tapping a tambourine out of time. It was very off putting so Chris paused and asked them to stop.

As it's a "yes" that makes the second question redundant. Phew.

Q.  Hi Oracle!
I was curious to see what the smallest-scale concert that Coldplay has ever done and how small would they go?

Obviously when the band started they were playing pubs & clubs with very small capacities. The last time they played anywhere as small was December 2011 when they went back to perform at Dingwalls (Camden, London) which has a capacity of less than 500.
It's not a case of how small would they go, but can they go and for what reason.
Dingwalls was a special radio event and obviously their production had to be reduced heavily for such a tiny venue.
I have to say, watching Chris on that stage being restricted, unable to do his usual running around, was like watching a caged tiger!

Q.  Is it true that Coldplay played over 100 gigs in 1998, before getting signed?

No, more like 10. They signed their record & publishing deals in 1999 but there were only a few gigs in 1998/9 before that point.
