Q.  Hey there!
I saw the ETIAW question and wondered, if the building from the music video is the same as the one from Fluorescent Adolescent by Arctic Monkeys?

And if so, was the location chosen to make some kind of connection between the two?

Anna

Yes it's the same location but no there is absolutely no connection other than it's Millennium Mills and frequently used as a location for film, TV and music videos.
One of which was my favourite Snow Patrol song's video, Take Back the City.

Q.  Hello dear Oracle,

I have been wondering if the graffiti in the ETIAW video drawn by Paris is still available to be seen. If it is, where is it located? In London? I am planning to visit London next year around May and it would be remarkable if I could have a chance to see this art work.
Love you all.
Pinar

I'm afraid the derelict site isn't safe for public visits and the graffiti is no longer there. It had to be removed at the time of filming.
A team of helpers with emulsion and cleaning products got rid of it as each scene moved along into the next room.

Q.  Alright so I was watching a film called The Wee Man, based in Glasgow. At 1:15:25 it comes to a part at the building which is at the end of the music video for Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. I also noticed in the background I can see a clock tower near where I live so it made me curious to where exactly in Glasgow that building is, and how did the band come across that building as their idea for the music video?

thanks :)

That's the beauty of film, Cheggy. It may appear to be filmed at one place but is in fact another. The building used in the ETIAW video is in London, not Glasgow.
As you may know, filmmakers often use different locations for certain scenes and even edit the background to match the rest of the film.
There's a part in Withnail & I that springs to mind. Paul McGann walks out of Uncle Monty's cottage and the view from the door is spectacular. Having been to Uncle Monty's Lake District home I can testify that the view shown on film is not the view from that door.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
I was listening to music on Pandora and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall came on. I noticed that the cover for it had 3 men with beards and what looked like halos? Who are these guys and what is it supposed to be?
Thank you!

I have no idea who they are or what it is supposed to be because:
1. Pandora isn't available outside of the U.S so I can't see the image.
2. That's definitely not our official cover for ETIAW.

Q.  Dear Oracle,

How did the band find out about Peter Allen in the first place, he is a great artist but not too many people have heard of him. Where did the boys first hear about him?

Love, Vidar from Sweden

For anyone scratching their heads at this question, Peter Allen (& his writing partner Adrienne Anderson) wrote a song - I Go To Rio - that inspired Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. Its piano riff can be heard clearly which is why the duo appear on the songwriting credits.
Chris was watching the film Biutiful where the song Ritmo de la Noche features in the nightclub scene. Ritmo de la Noche also sampled the piano riff from I Go To Rio. That's the link.

Q.  Hi. My friend seems to think there's a bagpipe in Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. She claims it's a bagpipe when Jon plays solo with electric guitar. She was so certain about her being right that I got suspicious, so please tell us whether it's a bagpipe or a guitar. Thanks a lot.

Bagpipes? Wow, I've never been asked that before or heard anyone mistake the guitar for them. Now I listen again, I can sort of see why your friend could think that but no, there are no bagpipes on that track or any other Coldplay song.

Q.  Dear Oracle. I love how you've adopted the graffiti art form for the album. I was particularly interested in the music video for Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall which uses large quantities of graffiti. My question is, when you filmed the video at Millennium Mills, London, did you leave the graffiti behind, or was it just CGI? Thanks!

The graffiti was real but no, it wasn't left behind. The grafitti was removed by a team as each new shot was being set up.

Q.  In the building where ETIAW was filmed, was the graffiti kept on the walls, or did it have to be washed off?

I have never been to the filming location as it's behind a Private Property sign but a friend of mine who lives close by informs me that evidence of the video is left behind though not all of the graffiti remains.

Q.  Good afternoon, Oracle!

Where was the music video for ETIAW filmed? I noticed at the beginning of the video one of the buildings looked awfully familiar to the Sears tower in Chicago.

Thanks!

I can't confirm where the opening shot is exactly, but yeah, it is actually somewhere in America. The rest is London's Docklands as previously mentioned.

Q.  Dear Oracle,

I heard that ETIAW official's clip was filming in Paris ? Is it true ? If it is, when the guys were filming and where was it exactly in Paris ?

Thanks a lot for your answer,

Best wishes.

No, I think you may have misunderstood the reference to Paris in Roadie #42's blog. It was referring to the graffiti artist whose name is Paris. It was filmed in London's Docklands area.
