Q.  Dear Oracle,

If you were sitting in a theater that had all of its lights off and you heard two people playing piano and one them happened to be Chris Martin, would you be able to decipher between the two?

I'd like to think yes. If they were both playing the same thing and I knew that one of them was Chris that is!
I think it's easier to decipher guitarists and sometimes drummers. Jonny certainly has a very distinctive sound and style. Outside of the band I reckon I'd easily be able to spot Prince on guitar, Flea (from Red Hot Chili Peppers) on bass & even Phil Collins on drums.

Q.  When Chris plays older songs (Shiver/Scientist/See You Soon/etc.) does he try to emotionally put himself where he was when he wrote the song? And if not, how does he sing with so much passion and sincerity during every performance? Thank you Oracle!

Funnily enough, the songs you mention aren't actually that personal - emotionally speaking - to Chris these days. The Scientist certainly isn't autobiographical in the first place.
I'm quite sure that Fix You will always be a song that's easy to evoke the emotion rather than be in the original one. I'd wager that certain melodies and lyrics would be hard to sing any other way.
There are many people who have the same raw emotion and find it difficult to sing certain songs- Amy Winehouse was visibly affected by some of her tracks from Back to Black.

Q.  Did the band members ever make a major wrong decision w/ the potential to ruin their future& hopes? How did they cope w/ it?

The first bad decision was to call themselves Starfish but they rectified that of course. I jest of course. Or do I?
There was one huge bad decision that Chris made a very, very long time ago. To be fair, he was under a lot of pressure and it was a panic decision. It has been reported so I'm not speaking out of turn but Chris booted Will out of the band temporarily. Thankfully it didn't last long and he begged him to return which luckily for all of us, he did. Yay!

Q.  There was a Coldplay song being played in the back ground towards the end of Secret Diary of a Call Girl on Channel 4, what was it? I did not recongise it from the past songs. Please help it sounded great!

Just before the band started recording A Rush of Blood to the Head, Chris was invited to sing on two Faultline tracks: Where is My Boy? and Your Love Means Everything Part 2. The latter is the track you're looking for.

Q.  What songs does Chris Martin plays when he was a teenager? How did he learn those songs because that time, there's no internet? Thanks!

Some people are lucky enough to play by ear. Not literally of course but it means you can work it out by just listening. My Gran couldn't read music but that's how she played the piano - brilliantly too.
Before the Internet there was (and still is) sheet music so if Chris could read music - which he can't - he could have just used those.
I haven't a list of songs he played but he loved U2, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and many more...

Q.  Did Chris and Jonny became a school janitor? If yes, is it after college or while studying college? Hoping for your answer!

This was at college. The band were on the verge of a record deal but they decided to finish their time at UCL (all bar Guy that is) before signing to a label.
There is no way they had time to be janitors* post-studies as they literally went straight from college to touring and recording.

*Here's a little interesting fact. From 1984-9 there was a band from the North-East of England called The Janitors. Their guitar / keyboards player was Craig Hope - our very own Hoppy!

Q.  Dearest Oracle,
I'm sorry to bother you, but I have been doing many researches but I still have no clue where this picture is from.

Could you please explain what is actually going on in this picture? What woman is it with Chris? I really won't be able to sleep until I find out.
Thanks in advance!

This is from back in 2002 when Chris teamed up with WaterAid to promote a campaign for Glastonbury Festival goers to support the cause. I have no idea who the woman is but I assume someone who worked for the charity.

Q.  Hello Oracle! What did Chris do this picture for?

Ha ha! That's funny. It isn't Chris; it's Jake Gyllenhaal! I have never seen a studio shot photo of Chris shirtless. Someone has been creative...

Q.  In the credits for Yeezus it says Chris Martin wrote on the track Guilt Trip. I remember Chris was in Paris a few months back when Kanye was working on the album. Is this Coldplay's Chris Martin?

As you probably know Chris has collaborated with Kanye before (on Homecoming) but no, that's not our Chris. It's DJ Premier & his real name is also Chris Martin.
