Q.  Hello Oracle,

I just found this video of a concert in Australia. What does Chris say at 40:18? I'd love to know that.

Isabelle, Netherlands.

Just before they play ASFOS he says, "If you are wearing a tie, now might be the time to take it off".

Q.  Was that Chris in the green shirt sitting next to Apple Designer Jony Ive at the Apple Watch Event?

Chris was in Cupertino for the event but I haven't checked where he sat or what he was wearing. I got my information from Stephen Fry via Anchorman.

Q.  Hi friend,
I just saw Chris do the ice bucket challenge, who's he with? She said she's a fashion designer.

By the way, it was my favourite ice bucket challenge! (I'm not bias at all ;-) )

He did the ice bucket challenge with Stella McCartney - hence them nominating her father, Sir Paul McCartney.

Q.  Hey Oracle,

Why does Chris Martin after, I don't know, 10 years of playing his Yamaha GT20 pianos, suddenly switch to a different one?

Greetings from Holland

Given Miller is Chris' keyboard technician (and all round genius with a bunch of technology), I asked him about the current key situation.
"This new one can 'play itself' in A Sky Full Of Stars and Magic. What it plays is actually a midi recording of Chris playing the song in rehearsals". He's actually had it since the Christmas Lights video where we did the same trick".
It plays in time with the song and the screens because of Miller's clever synching.

Q.  When and how will the winners of the contest be notified? I think I might have written my email wrong and really want to go to NY for the concert.

Our winners were selected randomly once the deadline had closed on 29 July. The winners were notified by email shortly after.

Q.  Once Chris said that he would never ever played without the rest of the band. Did he changed his mind? I'm very sad, maybe Chris is thinking of a solo production and we'll have to say goodbye to Coldplay...

No. Chris has said that he won't go solo; not that he wouldn't play without the band. He's performed on his own many times before (& sometimes just with Jonny) so don't be sad. August is usually the month that everyone takes as holiday.

Q.  Hello Oracle,
Is there a Coldplay-song like Halo (Baby, I can feel your halo)?
Love from Iceland

No; Halo is a Beyonce song. There have been occasions where Chris has accompanied Beyonce on piano.
The first time was at the Hope for Haiti charity telethon (January 22, 2010) and again on New Years Eve 2011 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, Las Vegas show.

Q.  Hello O,

How does Chris feel about him switching to a non-vegetarian diet being a top headline on TMZ?

I don't tend to comment on private issues but this baffles me. Chris has been eating meat for years. There was a period of vegetarianism a while back but I didn't alert the media when I saw him eating meat again. He did say publicly last week that he was considering going back to being a vegetarian which will see the back of turkey / chicken breast salads that he has been eating.

Q.  Dear Oracle!
I saw that The Rolling Stones posted a video on their Instagram account, with Chris who talk about a winner song. The Rolling stones Performed on the Danish festival Roskilde festivalen but was Chris there too?
Thank you for helping me!

The Rolling Stones allowed fans to vote for songs to perform each night on their current tour. Chris announced the winning song for Roskilde Festival and yes, was in attendance to watch the band the day after Coldplay's last RAH show.

Q.  Do you think we could hear Wish I Was Here with the original vocals from Chris. It's an amazing song.

If such a version exists, it will only be in demo form. This is a collaboration so it was never a Coldplay song before it became what it is. As far as I know, the only song that ever started being performed and heard as a Coldplay song before being recorded and released by anyone else was Gravity (Embrace).
Even when Chris has written or given tracks to other people, I have never heard a version with Chris singing. Lukas (recorded by Natalie Imbruglia) for example, was intended for Viva but I never heard it.
