Q.  Dear Oracle,
Was the artist who illustrated the Atlas music video the same person who illustrated the A Sky Full of Stars single art? The art styles are quite similar. Thank you!

The Atlas video illustrations were by Micah Lidberg but, as with all the Ghost Stories artwork, the ASFOS single art was by Mila Furstova.

Q.  In the interview with Fearne Cotton and Coldplay (Making of Ghost Stories), a picture of initial track listing for Ghost stories was shown.
It included songs like The Race, Atlas, World Without You and Mist.
My question is that whether these songs were changed to a different title in G.S
or was never recorded??

Thank you in Advance...
Akash Ben

I'm sure you know Atlas - it was the song that featured on the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack.
As for the others, they are (as is usual) tracks that didn't make it on to the final cut of the album.

Q.  Oracle,
I can't find Miracles or the lyrics in the Recordings section of the website. I have the same problem with Wish I Was Here. Are they not official releases by the band, or do you just not put soundtrack songs on the recordings section? I'm confused because Atlas is there and Miracles isn't.

Miracles is coming to Recordings but as Wish I was Here isn't a release, it isn't.

Q.  I was at the Under 1 Roof concert and I am really wondering if it is true that Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy performed Atlas LIVE for the first time!

It was an amazing concert full of surprises and I can't wait to see those guys again.

Greetings from a London based Dutchie.

Chris has performed Atlas solo on piano at the Hollywood Film Awards back in October but yes, the Under 1 Roof show was the first time the band performed it together.

Q.  I have just read that the boys have been nominated for a Golden Globe! Is this the first time this has happened, and how excited are they?

Given that Atlas is the band's first song recorded for a film there has never been a song eligible before.
The Hollywood Film Awards (where it won the Hollywood Song Award) and the Golden Globes nominations are their first within the film industry.
They are thrilled to have been shortlisted - it's very exciting indeed!

Q.  I went to see Catching Fire last weekend and heard an instrumental version of Atlas in the middle of the movie. Is it recorded by Coldplay? And is there a full version?

James Newton Howard scored the film and - as I have mentioned here previously - the incidental music featuring components of Atlas is called We’re A Team.
It doesn't appear to be on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Q.  Hello Oracle What do you know about We're a Team by Coldplay from the Hunger Games?

That title isn't a new song; it's the name for the instrumental music used in the film that features Atlas hence it having another writer also credited.

Q.  Did Chris have a guide as to what Atlas had to sound like due to it being for a film? Phil.

The band don't write to order but obviously being familiar with the book and films in general helps when writing for a soundtrack. It's not necessary to explain how a song should be or what's expected. That may be true for ad agencies and clients who do request jingles or soundbeds to be a certain way but personally, I think it'd be pretty insulting to ask that of a band with an impressive back catalogue when inviting them to create a soundtrack. That's the key - like most "jobs", you wouldn't ask someone to do something if you didn't think they could deliver.

Is there any reason that only Chris performed Atlas?

For anyone that missed the news, Atlas received this year's Hollywood Song Award. Chris collected the award & performed the song at the ceremony (21 October).

In answer, it was purely a logistical decision. Chris has performed at such events on his own before - or with Jonny. Atlas worked perfectly with just Chris singing at a piano. It was a fantastic performance.
