November 10, 2009 - submitted by Emily, Canada Q. Dear Oracle, I've recently taken up bass guitar and I can't seem to find many recognizable - and of course by this I mean that someone would need to be able to tell what song it was right away - and semi-easy songs to learn. So my question is do you have any suggestions, and also in your opinion, what songs have the best bass lines of all time? The Oracle replies: There are so many astounding bass lines from jazz, blues, funk, soul to grunge and rock but these are the ones that sprang to my mind immediately. Queen's Another One Bites the Dust. The Breeders' Cannonball. Stevie Wonder's I Wish. The Beatles' Come Together. Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music. Brad's 20th Century. |
